A few weeks ago, I found out that my youngest daughter has to have the same heart surgery that my middle daughter did in 2004. My middle daughter was born dead, revived 4 times, intubated and rushed to Children's Hopsital of Buffalo where she was diagnosed with a left occipital skull fracture(from forceps), cephalahematoma and subarachnoid hemorrhage(from vacuum), meconium aspiration syndrome, sepsis, jaundice and a transient heart murmur. She has permanent lung damage, digestive issues and a speech impediment but it could have been worse. The doctor later lost his license due to a drug and alcohol problem and after two years of lawyers researching my case, we were told there wasn't enough evidence to sue. If that isn't bad enough, my oldest daughter who was stuck in my cervix for 40 hours before she was born emergency csection has autism, epilepsy, adhd, brown syndrome in her left eye, an inferior oblique palsy in her right eye, a sleep disorder caused by her seizures and severe allergies to things like oak trees, grass, animals, etc. She goes to behavioral therapy once a week and sees a psychiatrist and has pullout services and an iep in school. Now for the topper, in 2004, I was working, going to college and breastfeeding my youngest daughter. All of a sudden I became deathly ill with severe pain attacks that came and went for six months until I had an emergency total abdominal hysterectomy which revealed an enlarged, tipped uterus that was sitting on the sacrum of my spine because of adhesions from previous surgeries, a thickened endometrium, precancerous cells, a septated uterus and a deformed cervix. I wish I could say it was all over but it wasn't. Although the abdominal pain was gone, I began to develop very strange symptoms and was so weak I had to use a cane and occasionally a wheelchair. I was tested for RA, MS and a few other things but all was inconclusive so they diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. I still wasn't getting better despite all kinds of treatments and changes in my diet and lifestyle. By than my life was turned completely upside down. My boyfriend lost a very good job to take care of the kids and I. I had to quit working and going to college. We already had medical bills from my my middle daughter's birth trauma and ongoing medical care. So what do you do? You start asking for help. Except still to this day, I have been unsuccessful in getting help. My family lives in an old two bedroom mobile home that is falling apart and possibly making us ill but we can't afford to move because we own it and only have to pay lot rent and utilities. Only problem is we are only living off of my oldest's ssi and my boyfriend's part time newspaper route. We are constantly begging and borrowing to get our children and myself to all of our appointments. I desperately want to give my 3 girls what they deserve but I just don't know how. I have contacted Extreme Makeover Home Edition and I am praying they come through. I also contacted my local chapter of Habitat for Humanity but because we are a small rural community, they couldn't help us. We have bad credit too and that has adversely affected more than I ever knew could. Well God bless you if you read my story. Even if you can't help us financially please keep us in your prayers. Also, if you feel uncomfortable making a donation, please consider helping us with other things like birthday/christmas presents, clothing, etc. Thank you and God bless you.
